The Damba Festival is one of the most significant cultural celebrations among the Mole-Dagbon people, particularly the Dagomba, Gonja, and Nanumba ethnic groups in Northern Ghana. Originally associated with the birth of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, the festival has evolved to celebrate chieftaincy, culture, and community unity. The festival is marked by two main events, “Somo Damba” (celebrated on the 10th day of the month) and “Naa Damba” (celebrated on the 17th day).
